A last-minute, day trip to Mikumi from Zanzibar is a sharing Safari Experience to Mikumi
National Park by flight/boat. This is Sharing a 1-day safari from Zanzibar which is easily accessible from Zanzibar, and ideal for someone with little time for a safari but who wants to view a wide range of wild animals.
Mikumi National Park covers 3,237 square kilometers and lies within the Mkata River plain
bordered by the Uluguru Mountain range to the east and the Rubeho Mountains to the west. An
area of lush vegetation which particularly attracts elephants and buffalos. Open grasslands
dominate in the flood plain, eventually merging with the Miombo woodland covering the lower
hills.
Wildlife is abundant with giraffes, zebras, buffalos, hartebeests, wildebeests, elephants, wild dogs,
and smaller mammals and reptiles. Mikumi’s vegetation includes woodland, swamp, and grassland
with two water holes, Mkata and Chamgore. Apart from the saddle-bill stork, hammer kop, and
malachite kingfisher, there are also monitor lizards and a deadly python inhabiting the pools.
Itinerary
We depart from Zanzibar airport by flight to Mikumi national park.
On arrival you start with a Morning game drive, after a few hours you stop for lunch and after lunch,
you proceed with a game drive till 15:00 hrs and fly back to Zanzibar airport.
Upon arrival, you will pick up at your hotel overnight.
